The only child of two musicians, Doug was born on June 27th, 1977 in Pineville, KY. Exposed to music at a young age, he began singing in church choirs, taking piano lessons from his mother, and playing trombone in middle school, high school, and college bands. His early musical tastes included Chicago, Simon and Garfunkel, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson. The year 1987 marked a change in those tastes when Guns N' Roses release "Appetite for Destruction". The following year, Metallica released "And Justice for All...", and by the age of 13, Doug had bought his first guitar and began to mimic his idols. Doug played in guitar club at his high school in Elizabethton, TN and became addicted to performing after the first E minor riff of "Enter Sandman" caused a standing ovation of screaming teenagers that lasted the rest of the song, and also pissed off one of his teachers. He and his best friend began playing guitar together almost every weekend, honing their skills with the likes of Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth. They wrote a few songs and continued to play together through college, but were never able to form a band together. Doug met some other musicians and continued to try to get something going, but was always missing either a drummer or a bass player. In 2006, one of those people, Zach Sweeney, caught back up with him and invited him to come jam with him and George Duncan in Disillusioned because they just lost one of their guitar players. And it's all been down hill from there.....
